The quest for finding affordable housing in Berlin, one of Europe’s cities with a more fiercely competitive field, might become a sort of a ritual for the seeker. Waiting in a long line of candidates, for then, entering a harsh intimate interview to check how well you might fit in that empty room.

Zwischenraum is a german word that refers to the free space between at least two things or persons. But also to the temporal distance between two activities. It is that interstice where we can measure what separates the actuality of not yet having a home while, at the same time, envisioning yourself as the new tenant; in a process where things might be transformed and revealed.

Join Sarah on her search and meet Martina and Tim, two charming apartment owners in a central Berlin neighborhood.

Zwischenraum is a project that was conceived out of one of the KinoBerlino gatherings, the Berlin platform for independent filmmakers.

With the performances from Nurcan Ozdemir, Monika Celina, Alexander Pluquett and cinematography by Mike Davies
